When did… (lamenting the loss of leadership in society)

When did brazen ignorance and incompetence become a substitute for true effective leadership?

When did creating a tactical diversion become a substitute for admitting your mistake and apologizing?

When did selling someone out or deflecting the blame become a substitute for taking responsibility for your own actions?

When did yelling and berating and hyperbole become a substitute for respectful conversation?

When did blaming others and criticizing the past become a substitute for a true plan of action?

And most importantly, when did we substitute our need for leadership with our love of theatrics or entertainment?

I don’t think we ever did. So why are so many individuals gaining influence using these reprehensible tactics (in Canada and around the world) – and why are we lending power to their voices?
