Punk and Graphic Design

Those who know me – know my musical taste.

Those who don’t, are taken back by my preferred choice of music – punk rock.

That’s right. This straight-laced graphic designer loves the punk rock. Not the stuff that’s put out today. Mostly 80’s and 90’s music. I grew up listening to Jawbreaker, Bad Religion, Screeching Weasel, Descendents, NOFX, Tree People, etc.

I guess I like punk rock because of the sound. It just appeals to me. Kind of sounds like with a month of practice I could jump on stage, play three chords, and then jump into the crowd.

That’s kind of what the kids designing these show posters did. With little to no design experience, no typesetter or desktop computer, these guys and girls were producing awesome eye catching designs that helped sell-out shows and influence graphic design.
