Oh for the love of paper
Okay I admit, I have a fetish for nice paper – tissue paper, beautifully printed wrapping paper, embossed cover weight stocks and linen papers with watermarks, I love them all.
I recall back in the late 80’s, the paper companies would package together a wonderful gift box of wrapping supplies for the holidays. I felt like a kid unboxing and discovering all the items. While the supplies are all gone, I still have the boxes that the goodies came in to store new wrapping paper.
Needless to say I have a stash of paper at home that gets used for home made cards, gift tags, scrapbooking, gift wrapping and little personal notes. I can’t stand the cheap Christmas wrap that feels like the old Sears catalogue.
I absolutely love the gift wrap and ribbons we use for Christmas.
Some of my favourite places to find these supplies are WR Display & Packaging, Mayers Packaging and The Paper Place.
Before Christmas this year, I set up a wrapping station in the basement and as you can imagine, wrapping is a process for me. If you want something wrapped in a hurry, I’m not your gal. Here is a sampling of my inspiration for this year. Happy wrapping and may you not run out of tape.
And to all – in case I didn’t get a chance before the season started – I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
